Advocacy & Outreach

Through our engagement with members of the U.S. Congress and U.S. State Department officials, LAA informs policymakers of concerns raised by Libyan Americans and other U.S. citizens following U.S.-Libya policy, proposes policy recommendations, and advocates for Libya-specific legislation.

POLITICAL ADVOCACY
To raise awareness of human rights abuses:
  • LAA hosted an event “LAA commemorates the 11th anniversary of the Feb 17th Revolution”
  • LAA joined a  coalition letter to the Intelligence & Judiciary Committees
CONGRESSIONAL ENGAGEMENT

LAA met with 15+ SFRC and HFAC offices to advocate for:

  • Calling the Libya Stabilization Act for markup
  • Libya-specific amendments to the
    FY2023 National Defense Authorization Act
