LAA Statement on Attack and Kidnapping of Medical Personnel in Zintan

The Libyan American Alliance condemns in the strongest terms the senseless attack and kidnapping of independent medical personnel on Friday, October 11th, 2019 in the city of Zintan, 136 kilometers southwest of Tripoli.

We call upon the Government of National Accord, the United Nations, and the international community to take immediate action to seek justice for this cruel and inhumane attack on impartial humanitarian workers.We remind the kidnappers that attacking and kidnapping unarmed civilian medical personnel is an act of war according to the Geneva Conventions and Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter. The Libyan American Alliance and our partners will support the use of all legal and political means to hold the perpetrators accountable nationally and internationally.
