LAA Statement on Recent LNA Attacks on Civilians in Tripoli

The Libyan American Alliance (LAA) condemns in the strongest terms the longstanding systemic aggression against civilians by the self-proclaimed Libyan National Army (LNA) forces in Tripoli.

On October 14th, LNA forces targeted and brutally assaulted several civilian homes in the densely populated residential area of Al-Fornaj in southern Tripoli, causing the tragic deaths of four people, including three innocent young girls from the same family. These repeated and reckless attacks exacerbate the civilian toll of Haftar’s illegitimate assault on Tripoli and worsen the existing humanitarian and refugee crisis that continues to worsen in Libya.

LAA and its partners will continue to pursue all political and legal actions against war criminal Khalifa Haftar and his associates to hold them accountable for their terrible crimes against humanity.

We urge the U.S. and international allies to take action against the destabilizing actions of warlord Haftar and his militias. We also urge continued support in mitigating the excessive militarization of the conflict in Libya.
